We came up to El Kanah in May in the 1980s for a week. It was cold and wet. We were given a very warm welcome though!
Everyone was so kind & helpful, we had a good rest & came home a few pounds heavier & feeling we could face the world again!
We stayed in contact for a few years but as time goes by and families grow we would hear about what was going on up there, never thinking the place would be burnt on that terrible Saturday . We were so thrilled to see a new & modern El Kanah rising from the ashes today. May the Lord be with you as the place is finished.

Dining Room. - 2006.
Many pleasant memories of the 'old world charm' of this lovely room. Sitting in front of a roaring wood fire and watching the flames dance, forming ever changing shapes and patterns. Good friends and good fellowship.

Happy to hear the roof is on!
It has really started to look great. This is a picture I took just up the road.

Memories
Memories of El Kanah. Driving into the car park and looking up to see the "Grand Old Lady" of a building sitting on the hill surrounded by flowers and trees.
...entering into the foyer and feeling the special quiet and peace of the building the obvious result of being bathed in prayer. ....walking up the stairs to the dining room area and remembering to 'duck' because of the low ceiling half way up. ...going into the dining room and experiencing the old world charm.
...enjoying delightful home cooked meals and morning teas with scones jam and cream. .... the child like delight of sitting in the dining room and watching snow flakes float to the ground like the blossom from a thousand trees.
....sitting in front of a roaring open fire, watching the flickering flames and relaxing in the warmth whilst enjoying pleasant fellowship. ..... entering the Chapel and feeling the extra quiet and peace whilst looking out the large window toward to nearby mountain.
...but especially the People, both guests and staff. Meeting so many special people. Private guests and groups. Church groups, MAF, walking groups and many others. The Over 50 group. Very special people who came to El Kanah three times a year for many many years. .... the old hymns echoing through-out the building.
Ahh memories.

Welcome to El KANAH. This was the first sight guests had of the interior of the building before being shown to their rooms.
